| N-MID-OT

Collagenase is a proteolytic enzyme composed of a single polypeptide chain approximately 1,000 amino acid residues in length. It specifically digests native collagen fibers commonly found in connective tissues, making it widely utilized for tissue dissociation. Collagenase preparations contain enzymatic activities of several proteases, including collagenase, clostripain, caseinase, and trypsin (Kessler & Yaron). Type IV collagenase, characterized by low tryptic activity, is frequently employed in pancreatic islet isolation (Taguchi et al.) and applications requiring preservation of receptor integrity.
